what to bring when walking your dog

Walking your dog once to twice a day means establishing a routine–not only for when and how long you walk but also for what you’ll carry with you. Sure you’ll grab the leash but what other dog walking essentials should you always take with you?

Here are ten things I recommend bringing.

A flat collar should fit comfortably tight on your dog's neck. It should not be so tight as to choke your dog nor so loose that they can slip out of it. The rule of thumb says you should be able to get two fingers underneath the collar. Here a link https://amzn.to/375qFFM for a classic nylon collars

Typically made of nylon or cotton web, a standard flat leash ranges 3-6 feet long. Most dogs do well with 4-6 feet for neighbourhood strolls, as this gives pups room for safe exploration. Basic leashes are durable and easy to clean in the washing machine. Here a link https://amzn.to/371XLGD for a classic nylon dog leash

So whether you call them dog poop bags, doggy bags, dog waste bags, pet waste bags or poo bags, make sure they are Dog Waste Depot bags! Here a link https://amzn.to/3nLWLw5 for dog poop bags at a great price with bulk.

Positive reinforcement training uses praise and/or treats to reward your dog for doing something you want him to do. Because the reward makes him more likely to repeat the behaviour, positive reinforcement is one of your most powerful tools for shaping or changing your dog's behaviour.” Here a link https://amzn.to/34Y90Nw for the treats I like to use on walks. (I use different treats for walking to training my pup)

If you have to walk your dog during the day, be sure to bring extra water to drink. ... This will help keep it cool while it walks. Pack a spray bottle. Because dogs do not sweat, you may want to bring a spray bottle to mist your dog with water while you walk. 6. Toys

Carry a stuffed animal or a rubber ball with you so that your dog doesn't bite into something that's unwanted or dangerous. ... Soft toys and stuffed animals can be one of those objects that keep dogs excited and happy all the time. The owner might carry a stuffed animal during walks so that their dog becomes happy and active.
